There is no scheduled live show today, but Frank and Ciaran have provided their complete notes and wagering ideas for the late Del Mar races.

MARK GELDING’S FRIDAY ENSIGHT™
“At Del Mar, every horse has a chance—especially the one you left off your ticket.”
|
|
Frank’s Track & Barn Notes
Track trends: The main track played fairly Thursday. The turf course also appeared fair, although both five-furlong turf sprints were won wire-to-wire.
Jockeys and trainers: Antonio Fresu won twice, while trainer Mark Glatt won three races. Umberto Rispoli led the jockey standings with six wins, and Doug O’Neill led the trainers with five.

RACE 6
5 Furlongs Turf • $100K Optional Claiming / Conditional Allowance
Frank’s Matrix
#1 VIRAT (4/1) — B: Ran too well to lose in a similar race here last July but has not duplicated that effort since. He returns from a May freshening, and the rail draw creates trip questions.
#2 THE OLD NINE (IRE) (15/1) — X: Has improved since being gelded and enters with two straight wins, but this is a much tougher group and he is 0-for-4 on the Del Mar turf.
#3 INCANTO (IRE) (6/1) — A: Owns two excellent races over this course and distance from last year. If those local efforts are overlooked, he could offer value and pull the upset.
#4 GABALDON (6/1) — B: Has speed and looks like a five-furlong specialist. Jose D’Angelo won a turf race Thursday, but this horse appears a little slower than the main contenders.
#5 ARRAKIS (6/1) — B: Ciaran’s horse is a legitimate contender. He likes Del Mar and owns plenty of ability, but must answer questions about the long layoff and whether Joel Rosario can work out the right trip.
#6 BAD UNCLE BARRY (5/1) — A: Mark Glatt excels with comebackers. This runner missed by a nose at a similar level before the layoff, retains Rispoli and projects to get an ideal stalking trip.
#7 IRISH ROYALTY (7/2) — B: Won at a similar level two back and was competitive for a while in the Daytona. He owns a win over this course and distance, though the $100K tag is worth noting.
#8 LONESOME STEW (5/1) — A: The second Glatt runner is proven fresh and won his only prior try over this Del Mar course and distance. This is a logical rebound spot.
FRANK’S GRADES:
A: 6, 8, 3 | B: 5, 7, 4, 1 | C: —

Ciaran’s Notes
Race view: A very difficult five-furlong turf sprint. Ciaran plans to single his horse on one ticket and use ALL on another.
#1 Virat: Drops in class, is entered for the $100K tag, owns sharp works and the top power rating. Use.
#2 The Old Nine: Has won two straight going six furlongs but remains winless at Del Mar. Early speed.
#3 Incanto: Two seconds from three local starts. The Eurton barn has been cold, but his Del Mar record keeps him in the mix.
#4 Gabaldon: Ships from Florida, shows bullet works and takes a major class jump. Appears slower than some, but is placed aggressively.
|
#5 ARRAKIS
Ciaran owns a piece of Arrakis and believes the horse is all class. Foot issues delayed his return, but he loves this distance and this is not a prep. The plan is simple: stalk and win.
|
#6 Bad Uncle Barry: Strong local record and a win-second-win-second pattern. Rispoli rides for Glatt.
#7 Irish Royalty: Another speed horse who could have a major influence on the pace.
#8 Lonesome Stew: Fresu stays aboard for Glatt. Ciaran warns not to automatically upgrade this runner or downgrade Arrakis because of the rider situation.

RACE 7
Fleet Treat Stakes • 7 Furlongs Dirt
Frank’s Matrix
#1 Tapatia Mia — X: Has the right tracking style but her best work has come at shorter distances, and the rail draw is not ideal.
#2 The Loan Exchange — C: Talented and lightly raced, but faces winners and tries dirt for the first time in a stakes race.
#3 Lino’s Angel — X: Honest grinder but several in here have already proven better.
#4 Donttellmewhattodo — X: Has speed but may be pressured throughout the seven-furlong trip.
#5 Troisieme Etoile — B: Owns a useful stalking style and beat older horses last time, though her best races have come on turf or at Los Alamitos.
#6 She’s No Quant — B: Lightly raced and talented with a versatile style. The key question is whether her turf form transfers to dirt.
#7 Lyndee’s Dream — X: Likely to be involved early but may struggle to finish the job.
#8 Mohaven — A: Deserving favorite, proven at the stakes level and comfortable in multiple pace scenarios.
#9 Christa McAuliffe — X: Honest but appears overmatched after losing as the odds-on favorite last time.
#10 Cecilia Street — C: Competitive enough for underneath, but her best work has been on turf.
#11 Liberation — B: Returns for her three-year-old debut with Rosario and should receive a clean stalking trip.
#12 Taking a Joy Ride — C: Lightly raced and versatile, but this is a major jump from a turf maiden win.
FRANK’S GRADES:
A: 8 | B: 6, 5, 11 | C: 2, 12, 10
|
Ciaran’s Notes
#5 Troisieme Etoile: Top closer and top power rating. Won last time against older horses.
#6 She’s No Quant: Has won two straight and is a must-use.
#8 Mohaven: Has won two in a row and is Ciaran’s clear CAW horse and must-use.
#11 Liberation: Rosario rides for Sadler. Could be useful on backup tickets or depending on late Double probables and will-pays.
Primary horses: 8, 6, 5.

RACE 8
Cal-Bred Maiden Special Weight • 1 Mile Turf
Frank’s Matrix
#1 Bello Rosso — C: Returns to turf and tries two turns. Could outrun his odds but may not be good enough to win.
#2 He’s Proof of Joy — X: Outran his odds in the debut and has turf breeding, but may need more experience.
#3 Doing Time — X: Winless in 11 starts and looks more suitable underneath.
#4 Going Nowhere — B: Has been knocking on the door and should get a favorable forward trip.
#5 Big Vengeance — C: Blinkers come off and Ayuso rides, but he still needs to improve.
#6 Feeling Lucky — A: Likely received needed experience in his debut. Koriner is stronger with second-time starters and sprint-to-route runners.
#7 Benny’s Puzzle — B: Has lost several close decisions but remains difficult to trust at a short price.
#8 High King — C: Winless in 15 starts and difficult to endorse on top.
#9 Flash of Lightning — A: Faces older horses but owns races to build upon, and the rider switch is meaningful.
#10 Royal Rumor — A: Had trouble last time and deserves another chance while stretching out for Carla Gaines.
#11 Monsieur Big — C: Has pedigree for two turns but faces a difficult wide trip off the layoff.
FRANK’S GRADES:
A: 6, 9, 10 | B: 4, 7 | C: 5, 1, 8, 11
|
Ciaran’s Notes
#2 He’s Proof of Joy: Moves from a dirt sprint to a turf route. Could be included on a longshot ticket.
#4 Going Nowhere: Keeps finishing second and should at least be considered underneath.
#5 Big Vengeance: Blinkers come off, drops in class and receives a major jockey upgrade. Use.
#6 Feeling Lucky: Closed decently in the debut and should appreciate the route. Rosario takes over. Use.
#7 Benny’s Puzzle: Ciaran does not love the morning-line price and wants to watch the probables.
#9 Flash of Lightning: Rider upgrade and Ciaran’s primary CAW horse. Use.
Primary horses: 9, 5 with 2, 10, 7, 6 underneath or on wider tickets.
