📝 Can I Be Frank?
Saratoga Track Trends & Value Horses
Saratoga Track Trends
The main track was a speedway and awfully unfair on Friday, Opening Day.
Speed horses won every race except one, and that was a cheap $12.5K claimer
that fell apart because that’s exactly the kind of race that typically falls apart.
Value Horses
Race 3: MSW for Fillies & Mares going 8.5F on the Mellon Turf Course.
I’m pointing out this race because I think it’s going to be a key race,
and I believe several of these horses will go on to make some noise as they mature.
Yes, #6 SHELZAWA (FR) (5/2) looks extremely tough, and she’s a potential
single in the multis and the most likely winner with an expected big move forward today.
But there are two others I want to mention as possible price plays and exotic boosters.
#2 FANGO CREEK (8/1)
Should run much better than she did in her debut. She took no money,
made a mess of the start, and was up against it on a speed-favoring track
while off a glacial pace. Mott is so much better with his second-time starters.
She’s not a bad exotics horse.
#3 MADELINE’S AGENDA (30/1)
Took no money in her debut, and her paper running line is atrocious.
But there is more here than meets the eye. She was her own worst enemy
for most of the race, but she still tried and finished with some late interest
in a race that had zero pace. She could spice up the tris and supers.
