DOUBLE TROUBLE LIVE
Santa Anita is back.
Frank’s introduction may still be going.
|
|
DTL Crew,
Santa Anita is back. The $1 Late Pick 4 is in the mix. And Frank has celebrated with an introduction that reaches page three.
We asked for a quick welcome-back paragraph. He gave us a foreword, a mission statement, and “one final thing” that needed its own parking space.
The horses are running six furlongs. Frank’s preamble is entered at a mile and an eighth. Somewhere around page two, I started looking for a bookmark and a food voucher.
To be fair, there is proper handicapping after the opening ceremony: Frank’s Mega Matrix, Ciaran’s selections, and the tickets below. We’ve put Frank first. It was either that or let him write an explanation of why he should be first.

Two handicappers. Several opinions. Absolutely no chance of a quiet afternoon.

Race IQ has selections for other tracks today, too. There isn’t room to include them all here. Frank has used our remaining email space to thank the people who inspired the introduction.

Frank’s key: R6 #2 Jordi Bear. He is the only A in that race and the single on every Pick 3 and Pick 4 ticket below. Frank likes the class relief after facing stakes company. One horse carrying this much responsibility should at least get a parking pass.
The price hunt is in R8: #2 Leading Lady (10-1 morning line) and #4 Nineteen Forty Two (15-1 morning line) join #5 Vallendar as A horses. #8 Thebeachisback is a B at 6-5 on the morning line. We like the beach; we don’t automatically pay oceanfront prices.

$5 Late Double — Races 7 / 8
No pre-published Double tickets. Frank will make those decisions after seeing what happens with his R6 single. Tune in for his final approach. This part of the Matrix is waiting for a result, not another introduction.
The $1 Late Pick 4 is at regular takeout; it is not one of the low-takeout wagers.

CIARAN’S PICKS & NOTES
Full-card selections in preference order, followed by the late-card notes and tickets
Ciaran’s introduction is shorter. Not because he has fewer opinions—he’s saving the disagreement for the live show.

Ciaran’s late-card notes
R5 — #3 Mrsaintpatrick leads the way.
He just missed at this level and is a single on one ticket, not a lock. #6 Here Comes Too Too and #7 Catfish Cory bring class drops; #2 Patricia’s Boy is the debut runner with the trainer/jockey angle. Frank has #3 as a B. Ciaran puts him first. We made it one race before the peace treaty fell apart.
R6 — #2 Jordi Bear, but with questions.
Ciaran thinks the class drop could let him smoke this field, but he is less committed to the single than Frank. #6 Piedra Fria stretches out after a debut win and has a workout Ciaran likes. #1 He’s A Knockout also worked sharply, while #3 Iriseach needs the closing timing to come together. Same top choice, different relationship with stress.
R7 — #2 Harbor Code is placed to win.
The class drop and return to dirt make him Ciaran’s top choice. #1 My Man Joe Roldan brings speed, with the shorter distance a question. #6 Battle School just broke his maiden; #7 Desert Kat completes the selections.
R8 — #5 Vallendar is the top pick at 5-1 morning line.
Ciaran likes her early, middle, and late speed and the recent turf effort. #8 Thebeachisback is the obvious danger with turf breeding, class relief, and a sharp work—but there are still questions. The full notes also cover #1 Goldenlynn and #2 Leading Lady. Frank and Ciaran both like #5. Please remain calm; disagreement will resume shortly.
