Happy Labor Day, DTL Crew!
Labor Day is traditionally a day when Americans stop working, fire up the grill and
pretend eating six hot dogs is patriotic.
Unfortunately, Del Mar put a $3 Late Pick 3 and
$5 Late Double on the menu—so Frank immediately opened a spreadsheet,
Ciaran began insulting jockeys and everyone’s day off was officially canceled.
Both guys hit yesterday, which is wonderful news for premium members and absolutely
terrible news for anyone who has to listen to them discuss it today.

TODAY’S MARK ENSIGHT
The horses can smell confidence.
That explains why mine keep running the other way.
|
|
|
📊 MEET STAT HAPPY HOUR
The numbers are sober. We make no such promises about the commentary.
|
|
23%
Favorites have won only 23% of the comparable Race 11 events.
|
11 OF 22
Horses at 5/1 or higher won 11 of those 22 races.
|
|
35%
The Mullins second-time-Lasix angle behind #9 Parker’s Candy.
|
30%
The Mullins/Frey combination supporting #6 Baltic Fire.
|
Translation: Race 11 is not where you want to whisper,
“The favorite looks safe.” That sentence has purchased more vacation homes for bookmakers
than any real-estate agent in America.
|
☘️ CIARAN’S CORNER
Best bet, price horses and several strongly worded jockey evaluations
|
BEST BET OF THE DAY
RACE 3: #9 MISS HELLFIRE
With a name like Miss Hellfire, she either wins today or becomes Frank’s next ex-wife.
|
|
Ciaran’s Longshot & Value Plays
Race 5: #2 Mo Bradley (12/1)
First-time gelding, first-time Lasix and first start since last year.
Mathis is heating up—and apparently removed everything except the horse’s ambition.
Race 7: #3 Clubhouse Bride (12/1)
Second off the layoff and protected off the claim for Mathis.
At 12/1, this bride may actually pay for the reception.
Race 11: #9 Parker’s Candy (5/1)
Second-time Lasix for Mullins, a profitable 35% move. Jaramillo replaces Leparoux
after a head defeat. In technical handicapping language: perhaps today the jockey
will begin riding before the parking lot.

📊 FRANK’S MATRIX
The spreadsheet has spoken. Please remain calm.

| Race 10 |
8, 7, 3 |

Frank’s $3 Late Pick 3 — $100
$3: 4,7,1 / 8,7,3 / 3,9 — $54
$3: 4 / 8,7,3,4,10,9 / 3,9 — $36
$10: 4 / 8 / 3 — $10
Frank calls the last one his strong opinion. The other $90 is apparently emotional insurance.
|
Frank’s $5 Late Double — $105
$20: 8,7,3 / 3 — $60
$10: 8,7,3 / 9 — $30
$5: 4,10,9 / 3 — $15
Three combinations, six horses and one man insisting this is actually very streamlined.

🔥 THE LATE-SEQUENCE STORY
RACE 9: Frank makes #4 Thought Process the horse to beat,
but also gives A grades to #7 Medoro and
#1 Whiskey Decision. Ciaran calls #4 a very strong single candidate,
provided Berrios does not attempt to navigate traffic using Apple Maps.
RACE 10: Frank’s A horses are #8 Known Idea,
#7 See Through It and #3 Hard to Figure.
The horse is named Hard to Figure. Frank naturally responded by using half the field.
RACE 11: Frank and Ciaran both land on
#9 Parker’s Candy. Frank also gives #3 Go Ralph an A.
With favorites winning only 23% of the comparable races and price horses taking 11 of 22,
this finale has all the ingredients of a peaceful, relaxing conclusion—except for every
single statistic.
