FRANK VS. THE LAST RACE: THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Premier members,
Frank’s pick lost the last race again yesterday. At this point, the finale isn’t a race. It’s his annual performance review, held daily.
Ciaran, meanwhile, reports a Saturday sweep: the All Turf, the late Pick 3 twice, and the double, with Jaguar Jon delivering in the nightcap. Ciaran took a stand. Frank took a moment.
The stewards are now reviewing whether telling a horse “Frank likes you” constitutes interference.
Frank’s confidence has already returned. His selection is expected shortly.

Rosario leads the riders. O’Neill leads the trainers. Frank remains undefeated in post-race explanations.

Race 9 — Ogle, Vanta and a diplomatic incident. Frank’s A’s are #2 Ogle and #4 Vanta. Ciaran puts Vanta first, followed by Ogle, #5 Dee Snook and #9 Queenofthewild. Two men agreeing on the main contenders: enjoy it before somebody speaks again.
Race 10 — The toddler department. Frank leads with #7 Golden Club; Ciaran prefers #8 Nashville Champ. Both use the pair. Two-year-old maiden races are where a beautiful spreadsheet meets an animal that has never heard of your spreadsheet.
Race 11 — Frank requests a fresh start. Frank’s A’s are #5 Rostovsky and #8 Muscled, with extra ticket emphasis on Rostovsky. Ciaran puts Muscled first and singles him in the All Turf. One sounds like a chess grandmaster. The other sounds like the man sent to collect the grandmaster’s gambling debts.

☘ CIARAN’S DEL MAR PLAYS
After yesterday’s sweep, Ciaran arrives with notes, tickets and enough quiet satisfaction to be heard from the parking lot.
|
CIARAN’S BEST BET: RACE 2 — #7 QUATTRO PASS
Quattro Pass sounds like a premium airport-lounge membership. Ciaran would prefer access to the winner’s circle.
|
|
|
Value watch: Race 3 — #2 Malibu Coast. Ciaran flags a sharp Los Alamitos work and the Fresu/O’Neill partnership. His top pick in the race remains #10; Malibu Coast is the value angle.
Value watch: Race 8 — #7 Ocean Bear. Third start off the layoff, with a closing kick Ciaran likes. Also watch #4 Esso: Rosario stays aboard, a decision that caught Ciaran’s attention.
|
CIARAN’S $3 ALL-TURF PICK 3 · RACES 7–9–11
$3: 10,11,2,4,1 / 4,2,5,9 / 8 — $60
Five in the first leg, four in the second, and Muscled alone in the finale. That is a strong opinion with a very crowded waiting room.
|
|
CIARAN’S LATE PICK 3 · RACES 9–10–11
$3: 4,2,5,9 / 8,7 / 8,4,3,5,6 — $120
$3: 4 / 1,5,3 / 8 — $9
A $120 main ticket and a $9 backup. Even Ciaran occasionally leaves something for lunch.
|
|
CIARAN’S LOW-TAKEOUT LATE DOUBLE · RACES 10–11
$10: 8,7 / 8 — $20
$10: 8,7 / 3,5,6,8 — $80
Ciaran may increase the $20 ticket during the show. Both tickets include Race 11 #8, adding extra weight to Muscled.
